Nice tight shot. It's well framed in my newbish opinion and I love the look in his eyes.

Unfortunately focus is off and that kind of kills the shot by itself. I think the shot can be rescued and turned into a "creative" shot with some kind of photoshop effect.

Also, I don't know if it's a shadow or a stain but there's something odd on the left side of his face.

what were you shooting with (aperture, shutter speed)?

Looks like a shadow on his left cheek is from something out of view.
If we had make and model and focal length of lens, we could determine whether or not you should be using this focal length for a close up portrait.

Sorry, it is heavily cropped. He was being held in his father's arms. I'm trying to develop (establish?) an artistic eye and test the limits of my 7d. As an example, I didn't notice the shadow on his left side until pointed out.
