I am doing product shots using this light tent and lighting system kit:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=310574&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

The kit uses GE Photoflood 4800K (blue) bulbs.

I am new to setiing color temp and white balance.

When using these lights, do I need to set color temp to 4800k?

Do I need to do anything to the white balance?

Use CustomWB & you'll have no problems.
Turn off auto focus. Fill the frame with a white sheet of paper lit by your lights. Center the meter needle & take the pic.
Go in the 1st menu & select Custom WB. Press the SET button. The cam will display the pic you just took. Press the SET button. Exit the menu.
Press the WB button on the cam, then turn the dial to get the custom icon. Done.

Hi Photos Guy. I will give this a try. Right now the color temp is at 5200k. With the instructions that you gave me, is it ok to keep the color temp at this setting.?

is it ok to keep the color temp at this setting.? Do you mean on Custom? Then yes, IF you balanced properly. Doesn't matter if the lights are 5200K, 6500K, 4800k or not. Custom will see the difference & compensate.
