Fans buying local band shots

Just wanted to get a feel from the folks who sell local band performance images, are there requests from fans to buy the shots?

I have found one site where it looks like not only are images available for fans to purchase but also advertisers. http://ishootshows.com/ I have send an e-mail to find out more information on how this is handled. Hopefully this will give folks here a betting idea of what I'm asking for.

Anyone else have any thought / experiences in this area?

well i would say that Todd's selling images of national/international bands, not bands local to the StL area. that said, the legal aspects of selling images doesn't really have much to do w/ a band's renown. i don't see where he's selling images for advertising/commercial usage...that would be a clear instance of needing a model release, but for editorial/fine art prints, my understanding is that one is not required and you can do as you wish, as long as there wasn't a release you signed beforehand limiting use.

Yes, it looks like he's focused on larger bands. It's what I have found so far. If one takes a look at the order screen on some of the shots, it looks like adverting and prints are available along with editorial. Take a look at the Willie Nelson images as an example. Personal images might fall under the fine art but I was surprised when I also saw advertising.

I'm trying to get my head around demand for more local band images from fans but at lease his web site is a start.

well...best of luck selling images of local bands. it's hard enough getting the actual bands themselves to spend $ on them, nevermind the fans. :D

i do sell a small number of prints here and there, but i don't set up a cart like he's got...it's all pretty ad hoc, depending on who shows interest and gets in touch w/ me.
