I have misplaced the disk that came with my camera. I have a Canon SureShot A40. Any suggestions?

Can I use an alterate program to upload pictures directly from my camera?

Take a look at Downloader from www.breezesys.com.

You can get the drivers from Canon's site and like Roger said you can use breezbrowser to unload your photo's. There is also a freeware available that is popular. http://www.irfanview.com

Thank you for your help.

I downloaded the software but when I tried to upload my pictures I was given the following message:

Authenticode Signature Not Found

Then, I was confronted with the following prompted:

The File 'pscLL.hlp'on Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk cannot be found.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.
Mona

Mona,

Try installing the latest versions of the software from here:

Roger,

I guess I don't quite understand what is need to transfer photos from my camera to my computer.

I know I need a USB plug, a camera with photos, a software program (Downloader) and the TWAIN driver. Is there something else needed that I am unaware of? I simply cannot get my pictures transfered without that Canon Solution Disk...what is on that thing that I am not getting without it?

Thanks.
Mona

Mona,

As far I know, you don't need anything else. To use Downloader, Breeze Systems says you only have to have to the USB driver installed.

Try to install the latest USB drivers from here http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/customer/UTW_PS_A40_410.html.

Install Downloader. Don't forget to set File>Preferences and Events>Register for Camera Events.

I tried using Downloader v1.5 with my S400 but it would not detect my camera when switched to USB from RS-232?

Any tips? Is this not compatible with S400?

Thanks a lot

But If Anyone Can Upload It's Contents Somewhere, That Would Be Totally Acceptable To Me!

Better still, you can follow the instructions here;

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=230195&highlight=canon+software+installation

and just install the software from the update files that are available at the Canon sites.

Create a file with a .reg extension and paste this text into it, then double-click the new file. Then download the latest Canon update files and run them. Canon software just looks for registry entries before installing the updated software.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]

First, see this:
http://freeweb.siol.net/hrastni3/foto/eos/eos_software.htm

Second, when my son was recently visiting us and wanted to download from his Sony P&S, I remembered that my wife has Picasa 2 on her laptop. It worked very well to import the pix, Worth trying since it is free.

I find it a whole lot easier to avoid the whole issue by using a card reader.

Great googliey-moogliey... dredging up one from the ancient archives....

The directions are in this post, just follow them. Download the latest Canon software from their support site, create a registry file like I had listed in one of the replies, doubleclick that file, then run the setups. Good luck!

Did you mean you're trying to download Digital Photo Professional (DPP) version 3.8.1? Which model camera do you have?
