If you had a choice between a Canon EOS 1D or 10D witch would you choose? I take normal photos of people, landscapes and wild life.
Thank You

I forgot to mention that I now have Canon G1 and a EOS A2E with 28mm, 50mm 70-300mm ,28-200mm and 170-500mm.
Thank you.

Well, I faced that same choice and I decided on the 10D (not that I'll ever get one at this rate). Keep in mind I am coming from owning and shooting an Eos 1,Eos 1N and Eos A2e so I have a bit of exp with the pro bodies. Here are a couple of my reasons. One, I don't need the high frame rate of the 1D, nor do I need the rugged build. I find with my film cameras I'll often shoot my A2e due to it's lighter weight. I do occasionally miss some of the Pro features but not often enough for it to be an issue. If you have never used them you likely won't miss them. The 1 series (including the 1D and 1Ds) are quite litterally tanks just like the T90s they replaced. Shooting with one all day can be a chore. I know I shouldn't gripe about shooting the best canon has to offer but they are HEAVY. The feature set of the 1D is great but the 10D is no slouch. The 10D wins in the resolution dept. too. I personally think that the lighter and easier a camera is to handle the more likely you'll be to take it along and shoot it. Case in point, I have medium format gear but rarely shoot it out of studio if I can help it due to it's bulk. Canon has made a highly viable camera in the 10D. I see little reason for the added expense of the 1D. Even the 1Ds is not enough to make me take the leap. Now if they had a full frame body rated at 20megapixels or higher under 10 grand I'd take out a second mortgage tomorrow....
just my two cents....
The bottom line is if you are happy with it then it's good enough. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I asked this a while back.

I was leaning more to the 1D but now I am leaning toward the 10D because of cost. I was thinking it'd be about $1200 less, but it is really over $2000 less.

The 1D is Sept 01 technology, 4 MP and good for sports photography.
The 10d is March 02 technology, 6 MP and possibly a good alrounder.
Although the 10d is not proven it is the clear choice in price alone plus no matter how good the 1D is it's 2 MP less then the 10d and for large prints the 6 MP will score every time. Lets face it Canon boobed with the D60 this forum is full of unsatisfied D60 users including myself so don't kid yourself if you are not planning a pro career in sports photography the 10d will more than satisfy you.

unless you're a pro taking sports pictures, the 10d, by far. Save a ton of money, lighter, 6mp; what more could you ask, other than finding one.
