Well...it got in there, or there is something on the front of the lens.
For cleaning a digital SLR I recommend the following:
Giotto's Rocket Air Bower
Pec-Pad's
Eclipse Cleaning Solution
Sensor Swabs
All can be found on B&H and Adorama. Eclipse I would get form Adorama as B&H doesn't ship it due to the chemical in it.

I should have mentioned that you don't have to remove a lens for dust to get in the camera. It can make it in by zooming the lens, or might even have been there all along and migrated to the sensor. Either way, it's usually pretty simple to take care of.

Are you using the method in the manual (i.e. locking the mirror up, etc., etc.)?
It's not recommended to use canned air. You can actually damage your sensor that way. Use a bulb/squeeze type blower like the Giottos Rocket Blower

I have noticed that dust likes to make it in through the buttons/wheels on the 20D as well....

Good job. A lot of us do routine sensor cleaning as part of our preparation for shooting sessions. It saves a lot of Photoshop time.

I had the same problem a month after I bought my 20D. I tried everything short of trying to lick it off and even purchased a hurricane bulb/blower for $15.00.
Finally I ran across a recommendation to "CAREFULY" hold a vaccum hose over the opening "WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BODY" and suck it out. This seems to me to make more sense because instead of moving the dust particle to somewhere else inside the body you are removing it completely. Just don't do as he recommends and use a "Shop Vac"!!! I think they are a tad powerful for this type of application.
