I am having a real problem with Red Eye when using my Canon S400.
I have tried all the instructions in the manual but it still seems quite bad.
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem and found a solution
Thank You!!!

I have been quite spoiled with my Mark II and 550 EX I had not seen red eye in over a year. I purchased the SD500 for my wife and almost every flash pic has horrible red eye even with the red eye reduction program. I called Canon and spoke with a rep who says it is related to the size of the camera and nothing can be done. I really do not think the camera is firing the pre-shot that the mode is suppposed to include. I have unfortunantly become very familiar with photoshop and the other programs to get rid of this . At least I don't have to worry about my wife trashing my camera.

Yeah, there's not a lot you can do about red eye. It's an issue with smaller cameras in general because the flash is so close to the lens. I guess you could always use an external flash, but it's probably not practical for most of the situations in which you're using a compact camera. I guess all you can do is use the Red Eye flash feature and shoot in as much light as possible.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. It seems like I am just going to have to put up with it. And I will have to learn more about different software to correct the problem on my computer - there are a lot of programs that do that.
But, you know what I mean - it's a hassle eh?
Thank you guys!!!
