Hi everyone
Tomorrow i am going to Washington with the family, vacation tourism, museums and monuments
I am trying to make my photo bag for the trip and I am having second thoughts on what gear to get so I am asking you for advice
Im trying to keep it light
Here are my two options:

Opt 1
Camera (40D)
Canon 15-85IS
Canon 35mm f2
Canon 50mm 1.8
Flash 430EXII

Or opt 2 go heavy adding the zoom

Camera
Canon 15-85IS
Canon 70-200 f4
35f2
and Flash

Basically I dont know is I should get my 70-200 with me and leave the 50 1.8.., also extra batteries, flash cable, polarizer filter, cards etc
Do you think the 70-200 will be useful?

Also, any advice on must visit places is very welcome ;)
Thank you all

Id bring the following.

Camera
Canon 15-85IS
Canon 70-200 f4
35/50mm
Flash
and PnS camera

First day i'll bring them all at the end of the day, I'll evaluate if what gears to bring the next day based on the places I will go next and will go back to and leave the other gear inside the Hotel room vault.

This way I won't regret what I left behind home.

I would think the zoom would be rather useful. You can get some greats views of monuments/memorials from others that are a good distance away.

If the 35 at f/2 is fast enough for the indoor stuff, then good. If not, bring the 50 along...it weighs nothing. National Archives is pretty dark inside, so if you want some shots of some of the most famous pieces of paper in the world...

As for everything else, I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. I could make good use of a CPL in DC. Extra batteries and cards are a given.

DC is an awesome place! One of my favorites. Easy enough to get around, good food, plenty of free things to do, amazing views...

Heh! Washington State is great for tourists, has some museums and even what you might call monuments, but I have a sneaking suspicion the OP is referring to DC...but hey, out here we have snowy mountaing, lakes, rivers, the ocean...:)!
