I went over to Coronado Island today, as it's recently dawned on me that the best pictures of San Diego are taken from over there. Here are some of the skyline at various points throught the afternoon and evening...


Taken at around 5:30pm or so:

This is my first time trying this type of shot, and I'm generally pleased with the results. These were all taken at ISO100, with either the 20-35mm or the 28mm. The third shot was taken at 1/10 of a second at f/10.

Comments, critiques? Please...

The second and the last one are the best I think Steve, nice light and I love the skyline. Shame you haven't got the exposure for the last I would've like to know. It's funny you know, very still water looks great for reflections but I quite like the water in your shots, nice amount of movement.

When I printed the third shot, it actually came out a bit lighter than what's displayed here. I'll be printing the fourth shot, as well.

Very nice shots Steve. Were you over by the ferry landing?

Another cool spot is over by the airport near Spanish Landing. Its a little different angle to downtown.

Zach, yes, it was over at the ferry landing. I'd like to know how many pictures of downtown have been shot from there

Spanish Landing? Never thought of going over there. Back in the early 80's, I was stationed a the Navy's ASW base at the corner of Harbor and Nimitz, and Spanish Landing was actually off limits to military personnel. I drive by there often and, from Harbor Drive, it sure looks like it's been renovated nicely, which is good to see...
