Custom Startup screen for Powershot S45

The S45 has an application that allows you to load your own startup screen on the camera. The application has a whole bunch of pre-made Jpegs that you can choose from, but I want to use my own custom Jpeg. The problem is, when I try to transfer my own Jpeg to the camera, the application says that the file "is in an incompatable format".

Does my jpeg need to be of a certain resolution or size? Does it need to be renamed to something else?

I'm pretty sure the specs will be in the manual for the camera or the software.

In the manual it says that the maximum size of the jpeg to use for a startup screen is 20 kb or less with a resolution 320 x 240 pixels. So when it's larger than that it won't work.
