So i foundout i get to shoot mayhem festthis year i will hopefully have a 5d and 24-70l by my date but i will have atleast a 5d and 50mm which kind of sucks but i will make it work. should i go for a 16-35 mk1 or a 24-70

24-70 is more versatile.
Unless you really need wide of course.

Depends on your style. For me, I wouldn't mind having the 16-35 for a few artsy wide shots of the crowds and a few of the artists but probably would make most of my shots with the 24-70 so I'd personally go with the 24-70. You are on a 5D after all so 24mm will give a decent wide shot.

yea im not sure which one im going with i may end up going with primes. i really liek priems a lot so i got some thinking to do

Agree. 70mm will allow you to reach and isolate the drummer.

Its about a month away i got my 5d and i have teh sigma 24-70mm but am still saving for either a lprime 35mm 1.4 or teh canon 24-70mm have not decided yet which one but hopefully can find one of he 2 above a week or so before the show
