Hey everyone I went to the Indy 400 today at MIS and took my trusty 300D to cover the action. I got this great pic of a skydiver and I messed around in GIMP for awhile till I got something I think is really cool.

Questions...how do you like the post processing? Does this shot please your eye?

As far as some pics of the cars, don't ask...I may salvage something but I was stuck behind fences and those cars go really fast hehe.

Peter Canale

P.S. I added a crappy watermark because I think this shot is special.

Peter,

nice shot, but the post processing is too heavy for my taste.

If you are afraid about someone stealing the image, I'd make a larger watermark. This one could easily be cloned out, as only empty sky is covered.

Best regards,
Andy

I too think it's a touch overprocessed, but I also want to say that I think I know him...or can find him for you should you need a release.

Thanks much for posting, and it's great to see some canopy work in the forum...skydiving is so difficult, and it's hard to explain just how hard it is to fly a canopy, and fly a gigantic flag at the same time...not something I can even begin to think about doing, considering I still land on my face or bottom as often as on my toes....

How is this for a correction? I took the blur off...more pleasing to the eye?

Noni...since you like the canopy shots. Here's the other guy with a different flag a little closer.

It's a lot better. Very nice image.

Is the ISO noise intentional?
I think that it adds to the image in a way, but I'd also like to see a clean shot to decide.

Thanks for your comments, here is a picture without as much ISO noise. Truth be told, I was setting up for the race cars and these skydivers caught my attention. So it is a mistake I shot them at 1600ISO, but I agree with you. Let me know which one you like better?

EDIT: The processing I did here. Gradient shadow from top down to about the middle of the page. Adusted levels. Added a glow effect to the sunline on the left part of the flag. Cropped. Removed noise.

Thanks, Peter! I like the last one best, honestly...I might've played a bit with some contrast things, but I'm not sure. And I really like the IndyCar flag one; good, clear, clean, and bright...

man, your first image really makes the eyes water from being so blurry i guess
