Hi all,

I have recently upgraded from my trusty D30 to the 10D. The 10D is a wonderful camera, and is a welcome upgrade. However, I've been so acustomed to using LinearSharpen with the D30 that I can't get use to the converted images from the 10D, especially the skin tone.

I was hoping that since the 10D uses pretty much the same sensor as the D60 that I could use the D60 LinearSharpen. So far no luck.

I'm trying to get the same skin tone look that LinearSharpen provide.

Here are some ISO test FULL size images from the 10D for those who are interested in the image quality.

Anyway...looking forward to hear from Pekka regarding 10D LinearSharpen support.

Tuan,

I guess we're gonna hafta wait til Pekka gets his 10D. Here in Europe they're making us wait for our new toy.

Hi D30-
Excellent Pix indeed! Just load all of them and then flip through the asa's and look at the green gourd. You can see the sensor noise increase... and it proves that 400 is usable.
I took the Fred Miranda D60 ISOR actions and changed the blur levels to reflect the differences in sensor color channel noise between the D60 and 10D. I'll try them on your images. The LS action is FAR more complicated- but should be modifyable with the same method (as the sensor's color registration is almost identical) - if Pekka decides not to get a 10D.

Thanks- Bob

PS: just did a few..and it does work..but I will do a real interpolated correction for the ISOR actions and re-try. I won't release the corrected values- as I don't want to impede Fred's ability to issue 10D ISOR actions.

Hi fellow shooters,

Just want to share the good news. Pekka just got his own 10D yesterday, and you know what that means :-)

Congratulation Pekka. We are anxiously waitting to hear from your impression of the new camera, and LS version for the 10D.

Excellent work on finding out the LinearTIF conversion problem with the Canon SDK.

I saw your birthday/family photos. The lighting looks so even. Was it natural light or did you use an external flash (off camera) ? How did you achieve the relatively even and soft light ?

I would say 95% of my photography is indoor with flash, but I make a concious effort to soften the light as much as possible so they don't look like mug shots.

If you want to know, just check out the this thread on DPReview:

Hope that help.
