Morning all! New home looks cozy!!!
Much more for mitigation, attenuation and rolloff than boost.
Ultimately, it's a "subtractive" thing.
That is precisely what I meant. The room adds (and subtracts) from the original. Guess I didn't phrase that well! :o

For me, that usually means a pocket full of coins, but I've always been a very limited thinker.
BTW, I thought you'd appreciate....My bride is getting my "old" iPhone 3GS. When I was in an Apple store a few days ago, I bought her a cover for it to replace the functional black rubber cover I've been using on the last two phones. The phone is now clad in a pink plastic shell with the label "Juicy Couture" on it. My poor old phone looks so.........so emasculated.

It now has a permanent home in Owego, NY as part of the Owego & Hartford Shortline. The only reason there wasn't a big black cloud is because it was off.....they sat there for about an hour eating and waiting for a cut of cars to finish loading at the automobile shredding plant just down the road.

Now, I must go perform a death-defying feat! I must actually go set foot in a Post Office to get our mail that was held while we were in Anaheim.
Wish we had a "normal" size mail box so I could just tell them to renew on such and such a date but our neighborhood has the small "box blocks" which can't hold more than about two days worth.

The DMV is actually one thing AZ does pretty well. The office visits suck to a certain degree but there are 1001 things you can do online in AZ which makes it far, far less painful.
Aside from having to get a new photo taken a couple months ago because they initially gave me a 30-year license (yes, I said 30 year!) I haven't had to actually set foot in a DMV office but maybe twice in 14 years.

California's DMV offices are a running joke. If you try to do something as a walk-in, you'll be there all day, if not longer. They do have an appointment system which works fairly well. The last time I had to go in for a new picture and eye test, I made an appointment and was done five minutes before my appointment time.
It's possible to do a lot of things online here as well, but what I like most is that the DMV allows AAA to be a registration agent for the state. I had two registrations due, one of which expires in less than a week and I took care of it at AAA in ten minutes and walked out with the new cards and stickers in hand. The services provided by AAA are well worth the annual membership costs.

I guess it depends on your local DMV - and your local CSAA.
Last time I went to CSAA for a routine title transfer I stood in line for 45 minutes.
Last time I went to the DMV for the same thing I waited for 18 minutes and they let me sit in a chair reading my book.
As you say, appointments work well. But (being retired) I can pick my drop-in time for slack periods like 10:30 AM.

Morning all, our DMV has a random number system. Truely, you go in and get a random number - but they keep track of the order (they say). Upshot of this is you can't tell who is before you by the ticket numbers.

It may be different there. I think it has a lot to do with what the particular state allows. Better to check first.

At my particular ACSC (Auto Club of Southern Californa) office, there is never much of a wait for registration services. Like you, I'm retired and usually do this stuff in the middle of the workday. Tuesday I had to wait a little longer because it was lunch hour.

I watched a movie last night called State of Play with Russel Crowe and Ben Affleck. Crowe is a journalist for the Washington Globe and Affleck is a congressman. They were college roommates. Affleck has an affair with someone on his staff. Crowe, rather than writing the affair article like all the other journalists and bloggers, spends a few days researching some stuff and uncovers some giant scandal. His editor wanted him to write the story so many times before getting all the facts just so they could sell papers. Who cares what is in the story eh?

California's DMV offices are a running joke. If you try to do something as a walk-in, you'll be there all day, if not longer.
That all depends on which DMV you go to. I had to renew my driver's license last year. About two weeks before my license expired, I decided I'd procrastinated long enough and I headed online to make an appointment. There were none to be had at the office in Palmdale, less than two miles from me. They were booked solid for weeks in advance.
So, I checked the Lancaster DMV. After all, that's only five or six miles north of me. That's still convenient. The time I entered for the next morning was available, and I booked it. Turns out, I didn't need to. There was nobody there! I was the only customer inside the place the whole time I was there...
 Why is the Palmdale office so busy, while nobody goes to Lancaster? They're so close to each other!

Yeah, I don't think it'll be a problem in about 99% of usage cases, but it's still something that makes me wonder how that slipped past QC.

If only it were that cut and dried...
The biggest complaint I have is that not only do you have an over-riding agenda behind the big Four (Five I guess if you count MSNBC) but you also have the biases of these so-called "News Personalities" that just color everything.
It is such a refreshing joy to listen to the BBC on XM Radio because they simply tell you what happened. By it's very definition, "NEWS" can only be history. Not what might happen or could happen but only what has already happened.
Now can the BBC do excellent documentary or opinion pieces?, you betcha but they don't call that News.
It is to weep...

Yeah, I just listened to Katie Couric's nightly crucifixion of BP on CBS...
EDIT: And a blatant reference to the oil spill in the sports segment of the CBS evening news. When the reporter talked about how long that Wimbledon match took, he said "in the time it took to play this match 3.8 million gallons of oil spilled into the Gulf..."

I think the two major transformations were Cronkite Vs Viet Nam and Kopple Vs The Iran Hostage situation.
Dan Rather came right out of the newsroom womb with an agenda (trust me, he showed it while still with 60 Minutes when he came to Iran to do a piece on the International Women's Club. He was a grade A-hole...)
It's been a while so maybe my memories are misleading but perhaps Peter Jennings may have been the last true Anchor/Reporter on any of the major networks.

Deepest I can ever recall running down a MkIII battery was at Oshkosh last summer. First one went four days and was swapped out at around 20% remaining and the second battery got me through five more days (one day was 5D only out just walking and looking) and two more days of flying to get home.
I think I brought home 11,000 frames and easily 80 percent of those were with the MkIII.

That sucks, James -- I remember getting sick like that a long time ago, high fever, hallucinations, the whole nine yards, and it took me a weel to get through it. I finally went to see a doctor -- by then all the fever and such were gone, but I complained to him that my stomach still felt really off. He asked me when the last time I had eaten was, and then it dawned on me that I hadn't eaten in a week:)!

When I was looking at a 500 or 600, I heard that with the 500 a Wimberly-type setup is not as necessary as it is with the 600, but they still have something to be said for them just for handling.

Glad to see you're on the mend James.Maybe a RRS BH-55 or Markins M20? More likely the latter; among other things it looks like a screw-type A-S clamp and the ball appears to be black.
If your concern is being able to track with the lens on the head, then go with the Wimberly would be my vote. If "mobility" is referring to something that's easily portable, then yeah, a ball head, but I wouldn't want to try one with a load unless the head was solidly locked down.

You have to remove the word "Contest." That denotes winning and losing and as we all know, there are no losers in life.
Also, the reference to "forming words" has to go as well because that can call into question a player's education level and we can't allow anyone to be made to feel inferior. In addition, saying that it needs to be words will mean those who prefer free thinking could be made to feel as if their abstract views are somehow under valued.
Oh, and mentioning the number of players must also be abridged because saying "Two to Four" means that someone could be unfairly called out as a "third wheel" or "odd person out" if for some reason there were not four persons available.
