Knowing that the Pro1 vignets, occasionaly I just received mine and would like to start buying quality filters.I shoot lots of panos and waterfalls so Iam concerned about vignetting (effecting photo stitch).I've heard that hoya's Pro 1 digital circular polarizer is the thinnest you can buy (only 5mm withfront threads)
How does hoya's quality stand against helopan and B+w?Is 5mm still to thick to cause noticable vignetting? If so would you recommend just buying a step up ring and outfitting with larger filters say perhaps 62mm (pro1 is 58mm)

First off, I use all Hoya filters. Their quality seems to be excellent, and they have a great selection. I also use a Hoya 58mm Linear polarizer.

As for the Pro1's vignetting, I've tried using it without any filters attached, and still get vignetting. Likewise, I use a standard Hoya 58mm HMC front threaded UV filter, and vignetting is no worse than without the filter attached.

Thus I don't believe the vignetting is caused by attaching a single filter, although more than one would certainly aggravate it. I've finally learned to look for situations where vignetting is worsened (ie, sun's angle relative to the subject), and learned to avoid it when I can.

Hope that helps.
