Maybe this is a silly question but I'll ask anyway...

I have a 20D. When I open my DCIM folder for download, why is it that there is sometimes one folder and other times, two folders, within that file? ???

The camera makes a new folder every 100 shots.
Check the file numbers, that will tell the tale.
By the way, I HATE that feature. I wish Canon would at least give me the option to turn it off!

I use DIM from http://alanlight.com and I never see what the camera does. It copies the files to where I ask on my hard drive, and can rename the files if I ask it to (I don't).

DIM is great! His email support is fast, too.

LadyHawke - Not a dumb question at all. You may very well find the same folder number on 2 different cards if you are on a long shoot. For instance: One (the first) folder may have several images in it. If you had to change cards because it was full, the next card would repeat that folder with the balance of the images (starting with the next consecutive number) inside the folder.
I will shoot up to 3 1g cards per day and it is quite common to see the same folder on 2 different cards.

Not a handy feature but it is the way Canon does it.

Thanks everyone. I see the light. I think I'll check out DIM... if it's good enough for two Cream of the Crops. :D

ACDSEE copies my file right in also. I could live without it. That is frusterating I know, becaus sometimes when I shoot an event, and I have to use my mobile HD to copies files to, there is always like 15 folders when I go to recieve the pictures. i need to setup ACDSee to pull those also.
