This is a mechanical question. The ring at end of the lens that says "Canon Zoom Lens 3x" and "5.4-16.2mm 1:2.8 - 4.8" came loose in my suitcase. Some of the black plastic leaves that close when you power off the camera came off. I think I have all the parts (2 small springs, 2 large plastic leaves and 2 small plastic leaves). I've got it back together, the plastic leaves when the lens is closed fit together perfectly to form a rectangle, perfectly lining up with the opening in the ring that originally came off. The two large center leaves open up perfectly when the camera is turned on, and close perfectly when the camera is turned off. The problem is the two small leaves, which form two of the corners of the rectangle. When the camera is turned on, the two large leaves open, and push the small ones out of the way, and open the lens. But when the camera is turned off, the two small leaves do not close, and I can't figure out what I need to do. Can anyone help??

Thanks.

Greetings -
I found this a PDF file which shows a diagram of what I needed - my problem is that two small springs labeled "8" in the diagram have disappeared - I'll excavate in my suitcase and they may show up. This site has a lot of diagrams of electronic stuff, if anyone ever needs them: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=17003

I hope you managed to fix your A70 Benny D. Thank you for the link and information. This is not the type of thing you look for when you don't need it, but when the link is available, it sure is handy to download a Parts Diagram .pdf for future reference. This diagram may also be of use to those looking to do Infra Red conversions to their A60 and A70 Powershots. The sister G-series forum goes into great detail about this, listed as "Sticky-Building a G-Series Infrared Camera".
