Canon S1 iS, Orientation Sensor Problem

Hi,

I own a Canon S1 iS, bought few months back.
Today as i clicked some snaps, i noticed though the pictures were clicked horizontally, they were displayed vertically on the LCD screen.

When i checked while clicking more snaps i noticed, that while i hold the camera horizontally, orientation sensor showed as if i was holding the camera vertically (as shown by the icon).

I tried switching on and off the orientation sensor option as well as camera.. but of no use..
even after keeping it in horizontal position for long, did not solved my problem.

Also when i tilted the camrera to take picture vertically (rotating it clockwise) the icon changed as if i was holding it horizontally..

Somebody pls help and tell me, how it can be fixed..
