Canon USA (http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=111)
It was just there a day or two ago. Now it's gone! Hmmmm...
Let's hear the conspiracy theories. :)
Should add that the page is there if you search but it's no longer listed on their main page.

This has happened before---popular models disappear from the website only to reappear again a couple days later.
I did hear something that might be related, however. The Canon rep told my local camera store that they would be introducing some new cameras around August 8th. Do you suppose.....?

Good !
Now I can make a case at home that my "old " camera is obsolete. Then I will have a very competent backup.

Original DRebel is still on there so even if they are replacing it they would probably leave it on the site.

More fuel for the fire...
click this link for an "imaginary" EOS2D on Japans site...
http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/eos2d/index.html
It redirects you to the 20D page, is this in preparation for that page being replaced, or just an automatic redirect?

If you do a seach on Canon's website for 20D it comes up with a plethora of links.
It would appear that they are adjusting the webpage that links to their EOS series.
(I'll bet they are adding the 20Da to the lineup.)
Of course it doesn't matter to me if they obsolete it or not. I already have one. :)

As a matter of fact the 20Da does appear and they have a nice file on Astrophotography and some Photoshop tips on adjustments.

I keep hearing so much about the Canon 20d being discontinued/replaced..What is the big deal?
I still don't understand why there is such an uproar over what MAY OR MAY not be discontinued. What difference would it really make? If you already own a 20d, would the announcement of a new camera make your 20d not work anymore? No! Would the announcement make it impossible to buy a new 20d? No! You can STILL buy a new 10d and 300d today. Would the announcement make your camera worth less than you paid for it? Possibly ONLY if you intend to sell it; happens everyday with our automobiles. Would the announcement make buying a 20d less expensive? Maybe, but what does it matter to someone that already owns one; though it would be good for someone looking to buy one. Now on the other hand if you are in the buying market, and the 20d isn't quiet what you are looking for, then just maybe the rumors would cause you to wait to see if there is anything new coming out.

I think I can offer an analogy somewhat relevant...
You agonize for weeks over asking out the brunette that lives down the street. You ask all of your friends about her, and you even chat with her at a few social gatherings, finding out if you are compatible.
Alas, you ask her out, and she accepts! You feel the rush as you wait at her door on the big night. As you giddily walk down your street, you happen to notice a moving van backed up to the house next to yours. As you get closer, you get your first look at your new red-headed neighbor. Of course she winks and waves at you as you pass by...
In my analogy, the role of the 20D was played by the brunette. The rumored 'upgrade' was played by the redhead. Aren't we glad that its socially acceptable to have multiple bodies (CAMERA, that is) at once? Aren't we always going to have new 20D's moving in next door?
One in the hand is worth two in the B&H shopping basket...

20D is back on the main Canon site with the lineups of the cameras!:) Looks to me that they're just doing maintenance.

OK - now we need a reason why the 20D has been discontinued on every international Expansys site?

I'll bet you that someone on Canon USA is having the time of his life, removing the 20D from the site and then spending a few hours reading on photo forums what people make of it! :D
Actually, it could even be their marketing department, making sure people write lots in the rumour threads about what they'd like to see in a new camera, so they can make sure to put it in their next release in a year or so ;)

The 'maintenance' theory could be true, and it could also be related to a pending new announcement. Canon may be slightly modifying the Web site propaganda about the 20D to less emphasize that it is the latest & greatest so that it doesn't conflict with the propaganda they put out for the 'newest' latest & greatest.
It is the right time of year for Canon to introduce a new camera for the consumer (rather than pro) market. They want to get the new product on the shelves in time for Christmas. It happened that way with the first Drebel and the 20D. Canon is market savvy, so get ready for something. . . (and if I were Ni*on, Olympus, Pentax, and Minolta I'd be paying attention)
Have Fun,

If you look around on Canon's site you will find many parts of it that are down at one time then up the next. I don't have time to look at it very often, but do go there for one reason or another a few times a year, everytime, links that I bookmarked are changed and the pages are different. They change the site all the time.
