Avebury is the largest and oldest stone circle in england. Unlike Stonehenge you can walk right up to the stones, and in fact the village is built in among the circle.

#2 beyond the stones you can see the ditch that was originally filled with water and the large mound that encircles the site (both man-made)

#6 not far from Avebury is Silbury Hill which is entirely man-made, about 4,600 years old, 40 meters high, and of unknown purpose...
