I'm taking my S-70 to Europe. According to the handbook, the supplied charger will charge from 110v/240v. In Europe, with the different style pugs, will all I need to charge the batteries be a plug adapter? Or will I have to get a converter as well? Thanks, Dennis

don't know the answer to this for sure, not seeing you charger, but based on other electrical products I've dealt with- is there a switch that will allow you to adjust from the 110v to the 240v? If so, you should be okay with the charger plus the appropriate adapter. Just make sure you turn the voltage selection to the 240v when in Europe.

It's the Canon Battery Charger CB-2LT; input: 110v-240v, 14va (100v), -19va (240v), packed with every S-60/S-70. It has north american plug and there is no switch for 110 or 240 operation. Dennis

I figured I'd also ask Canon tech support. Here's their reply:
Dear Dennis:
Thank you for writing to us. We value you as a Canon customer and
appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
The battery charger for your S70 can be used within a range of 100 to
240 volts (50/60 Hz). You may need a plug adapter to connect the U.S.
type plug to an overseas socket, but if the voltage falls within the
range noted above, then no converter is required.
You can go online to check information on the electrical systems for
the
regions you will be traveling to by clicking on the links below.

Its most likely an electronic type step down transformer build into the charger. It shoud detect the voltage a adjust accordingly. The US system (120Vac) is singlephase single pole andthe European system is (110-240Vac or VDC) and can be single phase double pole (2 live legs). here something that might help:
