Was out to test my new magic drainpipe. So I set up to test on this fire hydrant. Well, what do you know, here comes a fireman with his mom. LOL. I was laughing so hard at the coincidence the IS almost wouldnt work. Not that this is a great photo, but I thought I would share this event.

Haha, Dante,
cute image:D
You really have to tell us how you convinced your wife to allow you to get the great white lens
This one would be a bit hard to sneak in with the 'repair order greeting card trick'
Best regards,
Andy
PS: I thought the term 'magic drainpipe' only applied to the lens' predecessor, the black 80-200/2.8 L...

She just said yes. Maybe it was the constant baggering that wore her down?
Yea, I know that the MDP is the 80-200, but I could not resist. Please forgive me.

She's saving something up... Your anniversary isn't soon is it? And it's only four short months until Christmas (okay, well, 5 since it's still early in August...)
I might just have to borrow that term... MagicDrainpipe™®
That is a funny shot. Pity he didn't climb on the fire hydrant. Sometimes you find the picture, sometimes it finds you.

Good catch! He does look intent on something. Image is terrific, color, sharpness, etc. It would appear that everything worked right, including the photographer.

Haha, all courtesy of a very creative member of DPReview, as fstopjojo explained in another thread:
It wasn't actually Adam-T at DPR who coined the 50-500 the "Bigma"; it was another poster who did that. Adam-T has coined many others though, and some very good names at that. "Liquidstone", who shoots with some monster teles, including the Sigma 300-800EX, calls the 300-800 the "Sigmonster". Anyway, here are some from Adam-T which most at DPR adhere to and accept:
Magic Drainpipe - 80-200L
Coffee Grinder - 100-300L
Dust Trombone - 100-400L IS
Plastic Fantastic - Tokina 19-35
Plastic Piston - 90-300
Pocket Rocket - 80-200 F4.5-5.6
Coke Bottle - 16-35L (Blame Forrest for that one ;-)
Prime-Pipe - 200 F2.8L
Hyper Pipelet - 135F2L
Grandad - 50 F1.8 Mk1
Radar Gun - Sigma 170-500
Bigma - Sigma 50-500EX
Goldfinger - Champagne Coloured 24-85USM
Popeye - Sigma 12-24HSM
BogRoll - 75-300 (Non-IS)
Fake Drainpipe - Sigma 70-210 F2.8 APO
Breadwinner - 28-70L
Breadwinner Mark II - 24-70L
The 300D is "Plastic Percy" ;-)
20mm Sigma - "Bargain Bucket" / "El-Hombre"
55-200 USM II - "Pocket Rocket II"
18-55 EFS - "Dogtoy"
Best regards,
Andy
