Hi fellow togs'. I am in a pickle. I need to borrow someone's 50mm 1.8 (nifty fifty) from July 15th-17th for a wedding.

I just bought a 50mm 1.4 refurb from Adorama. Unfortunately it front focuses from 1.4 to 2.2. They don't have any more in stock so they are giving me a refund. It'll take 8 days from the time they receive the lens from me. I don't have enough time to wait for the refund, then order another lens from somewhere else.

That's not even the worst part. I can't access my paypal account because I ordered something off of ebay from a friends computer, and paypal limited my account. I have to do a location confirmation, BUT they don't do it via cell phone. I have to wait for snail mail. They'll send a letter to my house with some kind of pin number and instructions. So, I can't even pay for shipping until probably the end of the week. Talk about a jam:confused:.

I'm not asking to borrow anyone's 50 1.4 because that would be insane to send that lens to a stranger. I just need a fast 50mm for those few days. If anyone can find it in their heart, or bag, to loan it to me, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not a Nigerian scammer or anything. I've bought and sold a lot of glass on here with no problems. Please somebody help me!

send me a PM.

Edit: Sorry. Just went home for lunch and checked 50mm f1.8 mark I that I have. It's gone and my wife has taken it with her and she'll be back after your dates.

You're doing a wedding and can't front $100 to buy a nifty 50 or even less to rent any of the Canon 50mm series?

50 f1.0 = $108 for 4 days insured.

I second lensrentals.com They are awesome to work with. Great personal customer service and they can get it to you fast (as long as they have something in stock, but they should)! Email them tonight!

The rental fee is pretty reasonable and you will be all set. You might consider an extra flash and or camera body if you don't have them. They don't want to hear your excuses at a wedding.

I live in Johnstown, PA. There are NO camera shops here. I would rather buy a lens in person. Renting will be my last option. There are nice people on here that would have lent me a nifty fifty. But hopefully my refund will get expedited now. I use photography money for photography and other things. I don't use other income for photography anymore.

I have multiple bodies and flashes, etc. I just got into a little lens jam. Thanks for the advice though. Things do fail;), and always at the wrong time!

Thank you so much. Emailing you now!

THANK YOU HELEN!!!! Thanks everybody else too. Wow. The refund is in my account! Wow.

Paypal removed the limitation on my account earlier today when I called them and explained what happened. I went to log into my paypal just to check and I got a very nice surprise! A very rapid refund from Adorama, the BEST photo store in the US! Thank you again Helen! You are awesome. My lens dilemma is solved!
