From yesterday. Okay, so I didn't read the guide/buy the program... Does it matter -its gorgeous in the right light. Is it a dove? A pidgeon? I could try to google it but I'm lazy.

"Common Bronzewing" a native pigeon. Lovely clear shot.

I like the way it turned out. I used the popsicle flash - its all I've got- with under EC-1. I had to wait and watch for it to land on the board with the green background. I should have been energietic enough to walk back to the car and get out the tripod. It could've been sharper.
A couple of others were soft. I need a ST-E2 asap. In low light.. even with fast aperatures, you need that focus beam to avoid flash..

Now here's the opposite. The one above is a dull coloured bird, stationary, against a colourful background.
How what about a link to another pic from the same shoot; here is a very colourful bird (http://i.pbase.com/v3/58/572458/1/47180050.cr_lap_09.jpg), in flight, against a dull background. It is a handheld pan. This camera is such a joy compared to my old manual focus slr. The colour is brilliant. I fiddled around with lots of shots of the fast flying Crimson Rosella. To see them gliding with that brilliant blue arc of the wings.... its a sight.

Nice shots of the bronzewing and rosella. Where did you come across that bronzewing ?

I've still got a lot of shots to process from that shoot. My twins are 10 today, plus its a parade night, plus a crisis du jour at work... I'm lucky to have found any time today.

I shot the birds at Black Duck Reserve in Newcastle.

Its a fairly large enclosure, but suffers from low light in winter because the sun is further north or whatever and has trouble getting thru the tree canopy.
