These are intended to replace the family portraits hanging in our home... mounted in 3 separate black metal frames with an arctic white 1" matte. Excuse the jpg compression.

VERY cute! :) I love them. Colour's great too. Was that shot with the 17-40L?
I wanna do stuff like that, but I can't seem to find a place that's that nice (grass that green, that perfectly cut, etc)

Daniel, These are very nice. Is the first shot of you and the Missus?
Small bit of critique here; I would like to see you backed up (or zoomed back) just a skosh to allow a wee bit more room for eveyone top and bottom. Everybody looks a bit cramped to me. ;) :D

I have a rather strong preference when shooting people to eliminate most everything else and keep backgrounds simple as well as presenting good proportions, so, I would like much less grass and much more face of the first image. For the girls I would prefer a little more space top and bottom and much less grass. OTOH, you are mightily lucky to have three such cute young things as models.

thanks for all the comments. Nope, not the 17-40L.... it was the Tokina 17mm. GREAT lens in my opinion. I'm not sure about the grass...I agree with maybe having a little more top & bottom, but the way the images are mounted; the girls are proportioned to look pretty close in size relative to us and out to the sides, so it looks as though they are looking up at us. The grass creates a continuous movement of the eyes from one frame to the next...kind of connects them all I think. I don't know, it was just something we tried.

I dislike the first one, but only because it kind of looks like you're floating and have no legs. Is it just me? lol
The second and third however... Oh my... Priceless!! (though #2 is my fave)

Maybe I don't have any legs. So what?

....just kidding. I just thought it was interesting that you didn't like the photo because it looks like I don't have legs when you in fact have no idea whether or not I actually have legs. :) Its actually kind of funny. I didnt even notice or think of it that way (maybe because I know I do have legs)...but when I showed my sister yesterday she made the exact same comment...and we joked about how she has now ruined the 16X24 inch print on my wall by putting the "no legs" thought into my head... oh well. :) Maybe someday I'll replace it with one showing some leg. ;)

I love the two of the kids. The angle really adds emphasis to the images. I'd suggest a reshoot of the couple and do the same sort of thing to "complete the set". As is, the first image just doesn't feel like it belongs. But the last two are definitely keepers.

This is similar to the arrangement on the wall.

AH! Looks great! You made it look like the kids are both looking up at you. Kudos! Very nicely done.

I'm sorry. I guess it was kind of ignorant to assume you have all your limbs, but in my defense, I really have no reason to think you might... well... not. But in all seriousness, it's not the lack of legs that I dislike about the picture. It's that it looks like you're just floting in midar. Legless. Floating. Or like you're supporting your body weight with your hand.
hahaha! You know what? I'm REALLY tired... I truly am sorry for starting this legless thing (again - hahaha). I can't believe your sister said the same thing. That's fantastic!

Cute layout. It doesn't bother me not to see your legs.... the cute photos of your girls keeps me from paying attention to that.

Great job. I like to see people that are anticipating the portraits being hung on the wall together.
