To All -

I have purchased a lens or two from sources like Craigslist and friends. Accordingly, I don't have a sales receipt. I'm taking a trip to four European countries next month. I've read that Custom areas might require proof of ownership. I see a potential conflict here.

Any advice on how to work around this?

Thanks all.

Very easy. Get Customs Form 4457 online, list your equipment and take the form and equipment to your local Customs Office. They will look at the equipment, stamp the Form 4457 as approved and you are on your way. They don't even require invoices for proof of purchase but it makes it easy coming back into U.S. The stamped form is good for as long as you own the listed equipment and does not have to be renewed regularly.

Good advice. Just make sure you know where to locate the serial number on your lens.
