I captured this shot a few weeks back at our local botanical gardens here. This is the male of the species and they will fly above and guard the female as she lays eggs in the pond, this I found is about the only time they will hover in place for a few seonds allowing one to get some inflight shots.

Cool one Eric! Dragonfly inflight shot is just as hard as bird inflight.
