Hendrix the yearling loves attention! I had to grab the camera and just click quickly in case the moment was gone, so far from a technically good shot. Still, loads of "Awwww" factor??!!

Lovely. It brings back memories of my mare who's now rising 26yo. She used to do that with me when she was a foal, I never had anyone to take a photo of it though. It's great that you captured that moment, I would treasure a pic like that of my mare and me.
It's unusual that the other young horse is snuggled so close behind too.

Thanks for the comments folks. Sadly, the horses aren't mine but they're all a potential source of some good shots so I rarely go to the stables without my camera.
The yearlings are Hendrix who is in the foreground here and Banjo further back. They were born just a few weeks apart last year and have been raised together. They've been very well socialised. Everyone has been encouraged to handle them, so they're (mostly!) quite laid-back.
I didn't post this originally because it's technically an even worse photo, but If you want double "Awwwwww", then how about this. A moment after I took the picture above, Banjo at the back raised his head to see what was going on. Edward walked down to talk to him & sat on the banking. So Banjo thought "if it's good enough for Hendrix, it's good enough for me" & promply put his head down again - on Edward (much to his delight, but he's a young man so wouldn't actually say so!)
Honestly, this wasn't set up in any way!!

Whippeticious, these two often lie very close. When I was there the other day, they were exactly like this again but the one in front was swishing his tail a lot. Right in the face of the one behind. Who then had to raise & shake his head to get rid of the shavings blown in his face... This went on for ages and he just wouldn't move!!
Regards, Allan.

As someone with 25 years of animal experience with a number of various species. I see several thing in this photo. One the horse show’s complete trust in the kids. The area is clean and the there is lots of hay, a toy for the houses to play with and lots of clean bedding. Look at the mare’s eyes… that is joy. I wish more would love there animals as much as you.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they're both colts or geldings, but yes it's lovely to see how relaxed they are around people. The two horses are obviously very bonded to each other to regularly sleep so close. I hope they aren't separated when they grow up, I suppose chances are they will be though.
Anyway, very sweet photos. Thanks for posting them.

ditto what Miltontao said... I had an abused horse that learned to trust me completely, and what a wonderful feeling!
Kudos to the owner of that stable.
