Hi,

I plan to go to Kenya for african safari on family vacation.

I own 30D and 70-200 f/4 IS USM. Are this enough for handheld zoom photography?

You might want to think about a 1.4 convertor.

I've shot my whole honeymoon safari with an 80-200 2.8.
It was great for most situations. Sometimes you'll find yourself too short and will wish you had a 500 f/4, but I guess that's just life ;)

Your 70-200 will be good enough. If you have some money to spend, rent a 300 f/2.8 and a 1.4x convertor...
