Hi everyone. I have been reading these forums for months but have never had the nerve to post. I am a newbie with a Digital Rebel 300D. I just got a 420ex flash today and was playing around with it. This was my favorite picture of my daughter and her cat. I used a 50mm 1.8 lens. No post-processing was done. Any comments would be appreciated.:)

michele,

nice photo! i think you did very well here. her arm serves to help the framing. i like that expression on the cat like its being overprotective. you have a beautiful daughter. overall, i think its a great photo! thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I am lucky to have such a great subject :-) Now that I've broken the barrier, I'm going to start posting some of the baby. Thanks again for the comments.

That's a really nice shot. Very sweet. I would try cropping out her hand on the right. For me, that would bring alot more attention to her eyes.

Your shot looks like it was lit just right, and after seeing the crop, I agree that it is better. :D

Thanks...I was playing around in Photoshop...what do you think of it in black and white? I'm going to frame this photo for a gift and am trying to decide.

The photo in black and white looks great too. You should see how it looks with a close crop of just her face and the cats. The image you posted is large and filled up my screen with their faces. I thought it looked impactful.
