Went out on a photo shoot with Martin-Images today at an area called Withines, it's and area between Oxenhope and Halifax. We even got permision to venture a bit closer......

Martin has opend my eyes to mono and i've learnt a great deal ans he has also showed me the greatness of shooting in RAW format too.

To see his great mono work take a look at his wonder art of Black & White images and nearly all are done within a 10 mile radius......

I'm not a big B&W fan (with the exception of Martin Images) but I really like this one. Very nice all around. Your gallery is pretty impressive, some very nice work.

Very nice! Either he is a great teacher, or you are a great learner, or both. I really admire his work, and I'd place this right up there. Well done.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, its a bit of both. I learnt that Martin has been a B&W fan for over 20 years and being an 'old' hand with B&W in the dark room he certaintly knows his stuff......

Order one of his prints and you will be very impressed at seeing the bigger picture?

I'm also not a big fan of B&W. But this picture is awesome in B&W. Maybe I need to give it a go.

Wonderful b&w image. Compositionally, I find the group of windmills on the right distracting. The lead in line of the road leading into the distance and more mills is terrific. Maybe a recompostition to the left more... perhaps this is one of those landscapes that would be better served in 'portrait' not 'landscape' orientation. That said, I'd be proud to have this in my portfolio.

I hope you do take it up, but if you really do get stuck, juat ask Martin-Images, in the Lets Talk About Phototgraphy in the forum Q&A on Mono work, but also take a look at his wonderful art work in this subject....??

Looking at it with this in mind, I tend to agree, but would probably not have thought of it otherwise. It's nice as is but would be great in portait and a tad to the left.

for your venture in to b/w its a good effort try placing the crop tool around the image to find composition that suits your shots better , and keep them coming

I'm not a fan of black and white, but I do believe in this case it was much better than the color version. If this picture was taken on a clear day I believe the color version would stand out a lot more. Overall, great perspective and liked the shot.

Would you mind explaining the post processing steps you used to get such a nice photo? It looks great!

Thank you. Definitely the B&W is better in this case! I appreciate your posting it for the comparison though.

Great shot. I'm gonna have to head up north of Denver here to the wind farm that is up there and try some shots.

Thanks for sharing the great photo and for the inspiration to try it myself.

....let me give you a tip if you want the slight blur effect, i had my G6 mounted to the tripod, and used full ND filters, the shutter speed i had for the blur in my pics was 1/30 sec at F8. I found that to slow a shutter speed and the turning blades wern't there and too fast just froze them of course, but good luck and i'm sure we'll see them here when you've done them....??;)
