View Full Version : Low light photography

Last night I tried to take some low light shots. Didn't do so well. I tried the P mode and a tripod, but found the camera would only go as low as 1 second for an exposure. If I placed the camera in M mode, it would meter down longer than 1 second, but there appear to be no AE type settings that allow this type of photography.

Now I am not sure if it is a design intention not to allow any pics longer than 1 second in an automatic type of mode, or if it is a problem with my camera.

My hope is that (1) someone reading this will let me know if this is the way this camera is supposed to function and (2) a favorite technique for shooting night time pictures can be shared.

Thanks, Paul

For really low light M and more importantly Tv do work.

I've shot photos with 15 sec exposures on "Tv".

It works well at these low speeds and metering is right on (using my Weston Ranger 9 (very sensitive and accurate) as a standard).
