I am new to video. Took some video clips on my trip. Used VideoImpression to edit and joined them together. Saved it back in avi format using advanced save (640x480, 29.9 fr or 15 fr which did not matter), and played in the Windows Media Player, however, the quality is not like the original 640x480 in the original video clips. Any idea how I can save it to retain original quality and be able to play it in WM Player? Thanks in advance.

I'll answer my own question. After playing with it and also videodub, I found out that I should have used the Indeo 5.1 compressor which keeps the original quality.

I have the same problem.
So it means that it's impossible to join together video clips using videoimpression and to have the same 640x480 resolution? I found out that videoimpression changes format to 320x240. Why?

As I said in my previous post, you should be able to get the 640x480 resolution using the Indeo 5.1 compression (under the advance button in videoimpression 1.7).

Oh, thank you!
Didnot notice this "advance" button.

Now it works!

I have been playing with Virtualdub and it is much better than VideoImpreesion. Try it out.

You will also need a text editor:

http://www.eswat.demon.co.uk to install ssaf.

These are freeware.
