I made it back to Mid-Ohio for the AMA Superbike races yet again this year. Although the crowds were down, the racing was as good as it's ever been, and it was a great time.

The light was relatively challenging, with harsh direct sun for most of the day with an occasional cloud that wreaked havoc with my exposure settings. Still, I'm relatively happy with the results.

All shot with my 40D + 300mm f4L

Series leader Josh Hayes coming through the Esses:

Elbow dragging through Turn 1:

Ben Bostrum coming through T1. He had a great weekend considering his recent hand injury:

Battle for the lead in DSB. This was a great race:

Still working on the panning shots. This one was at 1/125 and turned out OK:

Some great action further back in the pack during the superbike race:

Qualifying for the XR1200 cup. It was really cool to see these bikes, and they were surprisingly fast:

C&C welcome as always.

Nice set!! Love the BBoz shot and the XR1200. Any shots of Eric? I know he got a DNF but it was good knowing he was out there racing again.

Thanks for the kind words.

I did manage to get a couple of decent shots of Eric. Hopefully his season will start getting better - I too have been a fan of his ever since the Kawasaki days.

Great stuff there! Bostrom looks like he's about needing hip sliders in that third shot ;)

Excelent work! They are all nice and sharp but still have a lot of motion in them. Love the shot of Jeff May.

I think you could go for some tighter crops on a few, specifically the Hayes power wheeling shot, the sliver of Bostrom doesn't add to the photo I'd crop him out. Also, the sportbike leaders shot; focus should be on Herrin not Cardenas, doesn't really work switched.

The Bostrom behind shot is my favorite, great lighting too.

I really appreciate the feedback. You're absolutely right about the DSB leaders coming out of Thunder Valley. I was excited when I saw the shot, until I realized the focus wasn't correct. Just something to work towards next year :)

Love #2! I've seen knee dragging before, but not elbow dragging...
