Hi

I am new around here so hello everyone :-)

I would like some ideas, advice inspiration as I have been asked to shoot my sister in laws twin girls. They are about 9 months old. I have never shot babies, I am used to shooting adults.

I have a white seamless background and was thinking that this might be the best place to start. Any suggestions? I would like to try and get some cool creative shots too as I know Mum would really like it.

Thanks
Sam

you could try putting them facing each other somehow maybe sitting up if you can figure out a way of sitting them up maybe one of those bimbo seats or something and put a frame in the middle of them and take a photo of them. i always wanted to try that dont know anyone with twins to try it. big thing with babies is you have to talk to them and make them confortable with you so you can get them to smile instead of cry.

if you can figure out a way of sitting them up maybe one of those bimbo seats or something . Ahem. It's called a Bumbo seat, not bimbo seat, :D and at 9 months old, they have likely been sitting up for 3 months and are crawling. If they were premature twins, they might be slightly behind, but still they are definitely sitting up.

Thanks for that. Are there any general tips for shooting 'a' baby on a white seamless or any props that might come in handy to help me along the way?

I've got 14 month old twins. At 9 months mine were not crawling fast - they were premature by 6 weeks. They could move around but not like they do now. So, consider yourself lucky because trying to keep the pair of them in one frame now is nigh on impossible :)

Make sure you get down low when taking those pictures. Keep your eye at the viewfinder all the time as they will do something interesting when you least expect it. I got some nice photo's of mine by laying them on their tummy's side by side. They would kinda do a push up and look up .. not particularly creative but cute nevertheless. Another thing we did that was quite fun was put funny hats on them (these ones were animal hats so one was of a monkey head and one was an elephant i think) and then we sat them inside a big wicker basket peeking out of it.

Good luck :)
