View Full Version : canon 1D and extender error-

I'm having trouble with my new Canon 1D, my 70-200 2.8, and a 2x extender. If I have just the lens on, I get an error 01 message plus a shutter lock-up about 5-10% of the time, pretty annoying. When I have the extender on, 30-50% of my attempts end up with the shutter locked open and the error message- completely unacceptable. I must turn the camera off, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on. I've cleaned all the contact points and lenses, no difference. You have no idea how many important shots I've missed ( I work for a newspaper), and I'm ready to chuck the whole machine in the drink. This never happened with my D30. Do I have a dud camera?

I have the 1D , 70-200 L IS and 2x plus 1.4x extenders and do not have any problems.
