I have a new 20D and someone metioned that some of my shots look front focused. I did a couple of quick test shots and have a question. Can distance from the test scale(in my case a ruler) effect the results?? I had my 50mm 1.8 on the camera and close up the focus was dead on but the farther away I moved from the ruler the more it looked as if it was front focusing. I am going to do a more controlled, extensive test in the next day or two with different lenses. I will post pix from that when I can. Also, I am still within the return window of the store where I bought the camera. If it in fact turns out to have a front focusing problem, does that warrant a return for exchange??? Thanks

John

Later, if you confirm that there is a front-focus problem, then it would be good to try to decide whether it is a problem of the lens or of the camera. If the camera shows similar systems with a different lens used, then the problem is in the camera. If the problem moves around with the lens, then the problem is in the lens.
