Hi, I'm looking for some help again, your advice, lessons learnt etc etc re extra storage for my D60 would be appreciated.
I'm on hols in a couple of weeks and although I have a 1Gb microdrive I don't expect that to last long so I'm thinking about extra portable storage solutions.
I came across the vosonic XS drive which seems to be a card reader shell which you can insert the hard disk (laptop size) of your choice, this solution for around 20Gb would be less than the price of another 1Gb microdrive with 20x capacity.
Anyone care to share any other products used or experience with the above.
thanks for your comments....john

Check out the Mindstor PSS-1830. It's working flawlessly for me, and gives you the only Firewire connectivity that I'm aware of and 30 GB of capacity. At under $400US it beats the pants off handfuls of CF cards.

Great but a quick visit to their website suggest they are no longer in business

I also recommend the Delkin Picture Pad for external storage. I have been using a 30gig version since Jul 2002 and have yet to be able to lay the blame for any pictures lost on it. My only complaints are battery life (you will only be able to download 3-4 1gig cards using only battery) and you need the remote to watch on TV.
The good: 30 gig storage, reads CF cards or PCMIA cards natively, displays jpeg images on the screen (this really sucks up battery life), you can display the images on a TV, no loss of images to date and when downloading lots of images it is faster then the D60 OR 10D direct to computer. It will also function as an auxillary harddrive for your computer and I have used it to store music files so I can clear a CF card for taking pictures and then load the music for listening in another device.
The bad: battery life, must have remote for TV viewing, and every once in awhile I get a dead file created. The battery life issue can be mitigated by buying spare batteries.

I picked this up on Rob galbraith site
The status of MindsatWork, the company behind the MindStor portable image storage device, is in limbo. Though it isn't clear whether the company has already shut down, none of MindsatWork's phones are being answered today (all calls are being routed to voicemail as I write this). The Irvine, CA-based company's mindsatwork.net web site is still live, though mindsgear.com, the online store for MindsatWork, is apparently offline. Information from an employee of the company (who has asked not to be named) suggests that production of the MindStor ceased some time ago. What this means for customers who have placed orders recently with the company, or for current MindStor or The Digital Wallet owners who require tech support or repairs, is also unclear.
someone tell me how to post a simple URL (am I dumb or what)

Yikes. It appears I'm one of the few . . . hope it lasts! If not I'll be looking for advice myself.

That would be the Apacer DISC STENO CP100 (http://www.apacer.com/apacer_english/product_html/disc_stone_cp100.asp), I guess.
Expected to hit the market somewhere next month, price range ca. $300 - really a neat thing! I was going to build one myself once based on a small Linux board but I can't beat this price...
Anyway, it's announced for sale here (http://www.jobodigital.com/products/disc_steno_cp100.htm)

I used my Vosonic Xs portable drive for two weeks, and it worked fine. With one 5GB drive and everything, it cost less than $140. I never even bothered to recharge it.
