Looking to purchase a good CF card for my S30. Any suggestions? I can get a good deal on a 128mb Sandisk Ultra. Anyone have feedback on it?

Dont get SanDisk. The best memory company in the world is Micron, or Crucial (same company actually). Go to www.crucial.com, i just purchased 2! (yes two) 128 mb compact flash cards for $62 total. Crucial is the best memory company, and they offer a lifetime gaurantee on their memory, cant go wrong with that. They are even having a special if you buy 2 CF cards. I dont buy any kind of memory (RAM, CF, anything) unless its crucial, they are simply the best.

Crucial are a top compny, but their Compact Flash is very slow. Whether that matters in practice, I don't know,

I use a 350MB IBM Microdrive that has performed reliably in my S30 since I purchased them last Fall. I also have a 1GB microdrive that has worked well in an mp3 player for over a year.
Despite not having any problems with the microdrives, I would recommend quality CF flash memory because it is theoretically more rugged than a microdrive (I say theoretically, because any handling that would damage the microdrive would also damage the camera itself...so I don't consider durability to be an issue). However, conventional flash memory is usually priced better than a microdrive. I just happened to have a 1GB for testing purposes at my job, and I purchased the 350MB model off eBay for a very good price.
It's just something else to think about if you want more storage capacity than 128 or 256MB. The only time the extra storage has been useful to me is when I travel without a laptop (or easy access to a computer). I can store hundreds of Large Superfine images.
Whatever memory you choose, I would recommend purchasing a small USB card reader and an extra drive. that way you can use any computer to make a quick backup while you are away from home.

You can get the Lexar 256 MB card for $34.00 after rebate at Amazon. I just ordered two.

Hope that helps.

I have four Crucial 256 cards that don't work on an Ixus V3 and which is a problem that Crucial are aware of.
They are currently replacing them. But the new ones are still in transit so I can't say whether they work, or not.
Will post later.
