I need help taking night shots with my S70. I seem to have been adjusting the wrong settings. I was turning up the ISO and hoping that would solve it, but the pics were still grainy. turns out im probably adjusting the wrong settings (what should i be using)?

Also, when i would turn up the ISO at night it would get gray dots all over the place, which im assuming is dust or something that the higher ISO will catch (i have no clue so excuse me if that makes zero sense).

Mainly, I like to take pics of my car, and great night shots are always admired...but my pics always look unprofessional with the grain in there. I am sure there is a setting im missing (or multiple) but i dont find the camera's included book of much help.

I guess i shoujld know something about these thigns before i got this camera, but i got it for free and i love digital photography so im hoping for some help from the experts!

thanks in advance!

Higher ISOs on simple point and shoots like that will cause noise like that. For taking night shots the only way to get anything semi decent is going to be to set it to the lowest iso, 50 or 100 depending on the camera and using a tripod. A tripod is a must, since you're using a low iso and its nighttime you'll have rather long shutter speeds but as long as it's still objects and using a tripod everything will come out ok.

ive tried that and the pictures are PITCH black. i can lighten them in photoshop but then they are grainy, gray, and washed out.
