A head shot, Dwight recommended I try this, and I like it.

A typical shot for me, but I've been striving for selective sharpness, now.

What is different here?

This one is totally oof, intentional.

Overall there really was no usable lighting in this place to speak of. There had been what someone might call red spotlights (I'd call them desk lamps) nailed to the ceiling, most were blown. A very difficult situation.

The first shot is gnarly! Left-handedness is 15% of the population, I think. Great job for the terrible lighting.

I actually was charting really new ground on that one, as it was a head shot, and I used a flash. This was with the onboard with FEC set to -2. I'm gonna keep that one in my bag of tricks.
Not only does Corey play lefty (he is actually a natural righty), but it is a guitar setup for righty, but two of the volume and tone knobs have been removed, and the neck pickup totally disabled. He used to play a strat, but always admired the Gibson humbucker/set neck thing. So he had this guitar modified, though it isn't actually an SG, some other band. It really doesn't matter what he plays, it's always good.

I know nothing about guitars ... I played brass in high school and that's it! :-) Hmmm, maybe the FEC -2 with rear curtain slow, eh? ;-)

I'm not sure, I am using the UD hack on my DRebel. I was in manual, and EXIF says 1/50 @ f/1.4 @ 50mm, but oddly, flash data has been goofy since the firmware upgrade. I started with a few shots like this with the flash that were blown, so I figured I'd see what effect it would have by using FEC, and that is what I got.

Very good although a bit dark. I think this guy should try dreds rather than the rubberbanded bobs he's got! :-)

awesome shots. the first headshot could be a cd cover, and that last one (the bw guitarist) kicks ass. i think you definitely used the limited lighting to your advantage. the shots show alot of contrast and action.

the lighting in these places usually suck and that is my bane, does anyone have any pointers on contending with this sour issue? Like I posted previously, the shots are either underexposed or overexposed and the dust paricles are way too evident when you use the flash, it's like your windshield is wet. blackdiamond13 @ Jemsite (http://www.jemsite.com)
