At 12 days old... he's already filling out quite nicely, put on over a pound... he's got a few heat spots on him from breastfeeding but otherwise, I think he's just perfect :)

Of course you think he is just perfect, and for good reason too. He looks perfect to me also. Congratulations.

Thank you. I wish I was a better photographer though... I really wish I could get professional quality shots rather than have to go into a walmart studio or something.

Practice, practice, practice.
I am a barely adequate button pusher and I leave most portraiture to my wife. Keep taking photos then try to figure out what went wrong or what you could do to make it better then try again. That is how we learn.
You'll do fine.
It is easier than parenting. At least you camera came with an owners manual

LOL!!! TOO True!!! I'd practice as much with him as possible now and in the following months, soon he won't stay still for you and then you can practice your panning shot!

take lots of shots. that's the beauty of digital. chimp and delete. if you get one or two keepers out of 25 or 30 shots you are doing good. also, with infants, try some black and white and their uneven skin tone will not be as noticeable. did i say take lots of shots, it won't be long when you can't remember them being this small. i have a 3 month old girl and she is growing like a weed. i remember the weigh-in after the first week. don't you feel so proud when they gain a pound, or make a new noise. congratulations on mr. perfect.
