Can anyone lend me a hand in helping me find a quick D10. I would like to stay near the 1500.00 price and hopefully have shipped by the weekend-

Please, if anyone knows of a distributor or retail outlet that has one of these I will call ASAP and order.

THANKS!

Marc

Perhaps you can't find it because it doesn’t exist.

However, I'm looking for a 10D!

So, if anyone knows of stores stocking a Canon 10D...that would be great.

(Sorry, I couldn’t resist the jab.)

Well what I do think exists are a few that are sitting at the stores or shops because the original guy on the wait list did not or hasnt picked them up. I know I have missed 2-3 in the past day by a matter of just a couple hours...

But at any rate- I may just have to go the Ebay way and pay 100.00 more....

Oh well, I must have it by this weekend!

Thanks!

Any more help??? possibly through private e-mail -

Marc

Hey here is a couple of places here in my home town Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are a Pro Camera Shop and they are getting them in slowing. I just bought mine last weekend.

Camera & Darkroom 505-255-1133 ask for Manteo. I know they have one there on hold but I am sure they would be happy to sell it to you since the guy has not came by to buy it. And it could be possible they got more in.

And try Kurt's Camera Corral 505-266-7766, I know they are getting them in slowly as well. Ask for Bob.

I hope this helps

David

PS sorry no toll-free number but well respected Photo shops

David:

Thank you thank you! I gave them a call at Camera & Darkroom and they had 1 sitting there ready to be shipped. Its in 2 day transit to me now!

I cant wait!

AWESOME!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD COME THROUGH HERE. Now... next question-

Is the Sigma 2.8 28-70mm AF ZOOM lens a decent lens for this camera for moderate swimwear shooting and indoor model type shooting?

Mark- Go get yourself a 50mm 1.8 Canon el-cheapo lens. They are $65 new. It is TREMENDOUS for portrait work.
On the zoom, I like the 28-135 IS Canon. Great "numbers", low price.

Hello Marc,

I am glad they help you. They are great people. They recommend Tamron AF28-200mm SuperZoom F/3.8-5.6 XR (IF) Macro Lens. I like it a lot. But also I have heard that the Canon EF 28-135mm is also a very good len. Don't buy Sigma I have heard some bad things about them.

Last week I found a good test report in a german photo magazine (Color Photo 3/2003).

Sigma Compact Hyperzoom 28-200 ~ Euro 350 (pretty small - lens & price)
Sigma Compact Hyperzoom 28-300 ~ Euro 450
Tamron XR 28-300 ~ Euro 500

not tested Tamron XR 28-200

streetprices much lower.

results

Sigma 28-300 (74 points - good)
Sigma 28-200 (70 points - good)
Tamron 28-300 (66 points - satisfying)

Don't buy Sigma I have heard some bad things about them. - oooouch ... "heard"

Since some time I am using Sigma 28-80 (macro 1:2 !) with my Minolta SLR, it's a fine "universal" lens for everyday use.

Hello Mark,

Since Hurry over here has nothing better to say other then being rude to you through out the day.

I got these Lens Grade results from www.photodo.com

Canon AF 28-135 Grade 3.5
Canon AF 28-80 II USM Grade 3.1
Tamron AF 28-80 Asp Grade 3
Tamron AF 28-200 Macro Grade 2.7
Sigma AF 28-80 Macro Grade 2.7
Sigma AF 28-200 Asph HyperZoom Grade 2.7
Sigma AF 28-200 Asp UC No Grade (Meaning it S__ks)

And the winner is: Canon
Second place Tamron and third place Sigma.

"I heard and I saw"

Plus I took the advice from "Camera and Darkroom" a ProCamera shop not a camera shop in a Mall or Walgreens. They stated to me that they see more Sigmas being turned in for repairs not often but more than Tamron or Canon. I also took the same advice from a couple of my friends of mine which are working in the Photography field. Maybe Hurry got a good one but then again why take a chance. Also I don't like rude people, specially to people that want to learn. But in time you will form you own opinion and I hope you will not be so rude like Hurry.

Thanks to the folks who referred Kurts Camera Corral in NM. I finally gave up and decided to buy elswhere than Ritz/Cameraworld. My order got delayed 4 days in the matter of 2 (24 April, ordered a week and a half ago). I called Kurts and they had 2 in stock. So FedEx should be here in the AM. Very helpful and nice people there. Both Debra and Bob were very helpful.

I had an interesting ebay experience. Did a "Buy it Now" deal for a 10D and the guy wouldn't give me any contact info other than the place to send the money. Sounded too hoaky....Did a stop to that immediately. Also got another email from a guy that got his ebay acct hijacked and people were placing ads for 10D's under his name.

Lessoned learned. Go with reputable "real" dealerships and places recommended by other in the same interest.

Thanks again for the leads.

I just got an email from one of the guys who also bought a 10D using ebay. Seems the auction was a fraud and the people who sent the money are out the cash. The individual that was selling them was mregan0024@yahoo.com (hijacked email acct). I now feel fortunate I could not confirm the shipping method I wanted.

Sorry, if any of you were the ones scammed by this.
