Hello :-)
Just wondering what you guys thought of these. I posted the girl a while back and was wondering if i should bother and carry on the set..wanted to carry the theme of having no faces accross a few different places and modals..just wondering if you thought it worked?

very interesting. I like the idea alot. the first one especially is quite disturbing. I really have spent alot of time looking at these, which I would assume is exactly what you wanted. Tell us more about your intent?

Thanks for looking and your comments :-) realy means a lot.
You've got it spot on, I just want people to look at them and think, why have these people no identity? why are the where they are? have they been abadoned? are they real? Just loads of questions. I was just a little worried they wouldnt be very interesting, I took a load of photos, but the ones with darkened faces just sung to me a little more than the ones with people laughing at trying to squeeze into a box.

hi river.. i really do like your style! its non conformist which i think is a great thing. people come in many shapes and with diff. thinkings which makes us unique- i like your vision.
just a comment, i can't critique your style, 'cept to say that i like it.

The first one doesn't work for me, but I dig the second one. I feel the first one is cropped too tightly, it somehow does the opposite of what it's supposed to do and leads the attention away from the subject. I think that the face isn't covered enough to ask the question of why they have no identity. Keep at it though, it's a great idea.

what you have just said has solved a wee problem in my head, I wasnt too sure on the crop of that first one..thanks it doesnt really show enough location unlike the second..many thanks!

I like them both. The composition of the second flows very nicely....However the first is so mysterious with the hood and the overexposed and focused wheat (??) in the fore ground really brings you in and out of the main subject..I think this is an extremely dynamic photo..........love it !!

I find them very intriguing, exactly what art is supposed to do.

Interesting concept you have here. If I may make a suggestion? Take the female model dressed in proper attire, and sans the cardboard box to the same location in the first photo, and try an "Alice in Wonderland" type shot, as from the angle and scenery in the first shot it looks as though She could be peering into a giant rabbit's hole. :D Your avatar led me to believe that this idea might appeal to you. ;)

I like them, but I'm not sure why! I think if I went to a gallery and saw these I'd stop and think about them - but a gallery full of them would give me a headache!
Where are the squirrels? :)

I like the second, the rough colors, but IMO the person is a bit too centered for the theme of the picture. There's someone with no name in the center of interest...
hmmm ...
I think i'd see him better a bit to the lower left, heading out of the picture (uncertain future) with a vast empty space behind him
Hope that makes sense

Nice grain in the images. The first one is a little too dark for me, but I think you did a fine job.

Interesting. The first two look like they are coming out of the box and yet the 3rd looks like a person dumped in a box. Was that deliberate?

Wow...the third really has it! These comments from all of "experts" out here are interesting but please hold on to your instincts and weigh input with your feelings and eye..........Your style is terriffic and abrupt changes to suit others may change the whole wonderful perspective you have been showing...Frankly, I thought the first two may have been a bit of stumbling into a couple of good shots that would be hard to follow up on, but this third shot , while follows the same vein, is so completely different in style and content...a wonderful picture that is ,as the others , very thought provoking and visually stimulating!! I mean in no way that the comments and critisum of other members should be discounted..we all get a bit blinded by our own work, and others can see details we overlook......but some people have an eye for shots and composition that is fundamentally good and I think you are there....Stick to your instincts!!!!!!

They are indeed!
The first two pics speak to me of escape or emergence - like a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. The third one, in my opinion, is much darker as it looks somewhat like a body dumped and the socks give an feel also a perhaps a mannequin dumped.
They're all terrific - but for different moods.

The third one works very well in my opinion, as PEACHMAN stated "Stick to your instincts" as your stye is both strong and distinctive.
Personally I think the change from 'emerging' to 'entering' the box works very well as part of a narrative with the first two images.
Great work! :)

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the idea for this from? I only ask because I've seen the box on the beach in a music video at least a decade ago :)
