I am preparing to list my 1Ds for sale on eBay tomorrow -- along with an extra NB-E3 rechargeable battery and a custom ColorEyes 20/20 ICC profile.
I am thinking of setting a BuyItNow price or $7200 for the whole works, but naturally I am open to reasonable offers. So, if anyone on this forum wants to buy it privately, please contact me at segel@msn.com
This 1Ds was purchased 3 months ago, and it has been used for only a few hours, with the picture count less than 1000. It is in pristine condition, as good as brand new. And it is covered by the USA warranty.
It has been repackaged exactly as it originally was received, with these additions -- the extra battery, a CD containing the ICC profile and an unused CD containing Photoshop Elements 2.0 instead of the CD containing Photoshop LE 5.0 which came with the camera.
I am selling the 1Ds because I now have a 10D, and that will suffice for my needs. I've been playing around with photography for around 50 years, but I'm just an amateur photographer. Generally, I only take pictures of my children and grandchildren, with occasional trips to the zoo.
I have the stupid habit of always buying the latest equipment. So, I got one of the first D30's, then sold it when the 1D came out, then sold the 1D to get a D60, then sold the D60 to get the 1Ds, and now I have a 10D. (Well, everyone has at least one weakness.)
The custom ColorEyes 20/20 ICC profile that goes with this particular 1Ds is an important bonus. To produce it, I bought the ColorEyes 20/20 program (which cost $750) and spent several hours adjusting the lighting precisely as prescribed by ColorEyes. Every camera is unique, and this custom ICC profile really helps to optimize color fidelity in image enhancement programs (like Photoshop and CaptureOne) or printing programs (like Qimage).
