I am going on a tour of Chicago, great lakes, Cleveland, Milwauki, Detroit, Lake Eri, Michigan, and Pittsburgh. What to shoot? Is there something unusual that people miss, seldom photograph, landscapes, time of day, etc. ? What are best/worst hoods, and must see, must avoid, or any festivals or other goings on?
I am not a pro, and am not publishing photos in mags, or selling, just a hobby.

Well, Chicago has some of the most beautiful buildings that I have seen. Architectural tours are a must if you like that sort of thing. Either from the river or from the segway route.

When are you coming to chicago? In the summer there's always something going on. The air and water show is this weekend.

There are so many places to go. Millennium park is nice, but probably over photographed. Across from there is the cultural center which is great for architectural photos (e.g. Tiffany dome). Go east and you have the lake. A bit north and you have navy pier and a some beaches. Check out www.capturemychicago.com for some ideas (photobook contest put on by CBS chicago).

You want an answer to that question in 100 words or less?

BTW it's "Milwaukee".
