Taken up North as explained here: Some Scenery in Trás-os-Montes (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=90782)

It's currently abandoned, only kittens live there.

I really like this shot, what a beautiful use of B&W and the lighting is great. :)

Thank you for your comments, Sandy.

The light was from a street lamp but was a very week one and with the vegetation it provided what I thought would be interesting shadows.
It's incredible to think the house was still habited some 30-35 years ago, according the locals.

This is beautiful! I don't usually like B&W photos, but this one has enough texture to give it some interesting shadows in the stones of the walls. The lighting is great, and the composition is perfect! Good job!

I like it too. The light is little too unreal, but overall it's great.

...the frames are not good.

Hello Becca,
Thank you for your nice comment. I appreciate it.
I do like B&W though usualy not in the photos I take ;) . I like the colors of the world as we see it, but lately I've been trying my hand in B&W as I found some subjects are best depicted by this form.
In this case the colors were not very pleasing as the street light had a yellow cast not complementing the old stones (even correcting WB in RAW).
In this photo I strieved more for the composition though I thought the night rendered better the feeling of isolation, also hiding some flaws like the cement once used to mend the entrance.

I'm sorry you cannot see it, but the photo is being hosted in Fotopic and everyone else seems to see it now so I guess the site should be down when you looked at it.
Please let me know if the problem persists for you and I can upload it as an attachment hosting it on POTN.

Thanks Kukalie,
The light was from a street lamp very near the house, so in some parts on the left it was realy intense. I suspect you mean that it would look better if it were lit by the moon, which I agree it would be awesome. Not feasible, though. ;)

I agree! ;)
I chose the frames from the great script Mike Motowlski (I hope I got it right) a generous fellow POTN member made available for us lazy folks. :D
In that script, with just some clicks we can include the EXIF and that's why I use it mostly.
I like to include the EXIF to allow other folks to see how I did it and comment based on that info, helping me to improve my settings for that kind of situation.

Thank you, BottomBracket
Yes, the wonderful texture is provided by the Shale (sp?) rocks of which the house is made of.
