I have a wierd problem with my S30. Other than the stupid door breaking (which so far has been solved by just shoving some cardboard under the bottom side of the door ;)) lately it has been developing an INSANELY long shutter lag for auto pictures (I really haven't played with other methods yet).
By INSANELY long I mean upwards of 15 seconds. Yeah, I push and hold the button, 15 seconds later the picture takes. This is outdoors with plenty of light or indoors, doesn't matter.
If I press the button 1/2 way it will very quickly give me a little beep with shutter/aperature settings, however pressing the button the full way will still take a while, on average about 5 seconds.
What is going on? It seems as though this problem has been getting worse over time too.
