I just got a T2i, 18-55 and a 55-250. I know theyre not the best lenses, but will they suffice for shooting some action stuff?

I plan on going to different tracks a lot with my friends and when Im not riding I want to be taking photos of them.

Any tips for shooting motocross?

if you can, just get on the track. talk to the people running the event, give them some sob story saying like your in photography school and your doing a project. get down there and work the angles. dont only take shots of people in the air. i personally love berm shots. 2 or 3 bikes fighting to beat each other around the berm? ill take that over a shot of a bike in the sky with some clouds around it. Just be creative and try to find the best angles.

Thanks. Normally I plan on just shooting local tracks so Ill be able to get up close, but this sunday Ill be shooting a big indoor race. I might not be able to get crazy close, but Ill have a mechanics pass so maybe that will help me get a bit closer.

Im not sure if I should take the 18-55 or the 55-250.

Im assuming the light will be alright, but Im wondering about the smoke. Im sure it will be well ventilated though. I have a good polarizer and Im wondering if I should take it. I guess Ill just take my whole bag.

What shutter speed do you think would be good for this?

This will give me a good time to use continuous shooting for the first time too.
