Can anyone help? Recently got the WC DC58N for my G3. Nice lens, but the front friction lens cap is driving me crazy (The lense fron is not threaded so a conventional lens cap does not work). I keep it mounted on my Lensmate 58mm adapter. Seems like every time I take the lens from my camera bag, the cap touches any surface and falls off the lens before I realize it. With the large amount of glass surface area the 58N has, I feel it's just a matter of time before I scratch the glass. Canon was no help. Am seriously considering returning it for this reason. Has anyone found a solution or work-around for this problem?? Thanks.

I have the lens and yeah the big cap comes off all the time, the smaller one for the threaded end grips really tightly though. I try to grab the lens by the big end holding the cap in place so it doesn't come off but it's hard to take out of the leather case like that. Buy a seperate camera bag it's much easier to take out of without the cap falling off.

I guess this is a universal problem. you would think that given the price of the lens, Canon would thread the opening in order to use a standard lens cap. I have tried taking my converter out of my camera bag both with and without the Canon supplied lens pouch, but either way, the cap seems to catch on something on the way out, and falls off. kind of sorry I just didn't go ahead and buy an digital slr (and from a different company!)
